Things to consider when feeding your yarn

by Alex Davidsen on Oct 12, 2022
Things to consider when feeding your yarn

Yarn feeding appears to be a simple topic. However, there are some minor details that will make your life much easier while tufting.

Let us begin with the source. In the best case scenario, your yarn should be on a cone. A ball that you can pull from the inside will also work. If you buy your yarn in skeins, you can rewind it with a simple and inexpensive ball winder like the one we have in our shop. The most important aspect is a nice and consistent feed from the source. While the rest of your feeding can be excellent, pulling from a skein will never run smoothly.

The yarn should then be fed through an eyelet above your cone or ball. and then into your firearm. When tufting with our tufting guns, your yarn should always come from the left side. When coming from the right side, it tends to get tangled in the position sensor.

Always feed it through the eyelet on the tufting gun before feeding it through the needle to avoid getting tangled in the machine's moving parts.

Simply thread the needle with a threader and you're ready to go!

By the way, we sell some great acrylic yarn for tufting in our store.
